FY 2010 Local Funds Grant: Inmate and Family Support Services

The District of Columbia Justice Grants Administration announces funds to support a service program that provides assistance and support to inmates in the custody of the District of Columbia Department of Corrections (DOC) as well as to families of inmates.

Funds will be awarded to support one or more community-based programs designed to provide inmate and family support services to individuals who are in DOC custody and/or preparing for transition into the community. Services may vary, but should include elements such as facilitation of visitation, family strengthening and reunification, providing links to community-based service providers and other vital support services.

Applicants will need to identify concrete numerical benchmarks for both outputs such as tangible services provided and outcomes such as reduced recidivism and increased family reunification. Applicants are also encouraged to propose evidence-based service strategies and to include a formal evaluation component in their funding proposal.

Eligibility: Community-based organizations that have the demonstrated abilities to meet the funding priorities, outputs, outcomes, and required activities identified in the Request for Applications (RFA), and who are able to commit to complying with all JGA financial, administrative, and programmatic regulations and expectations.

Deadline: 5 pm on Wednesday, December 2, 2009.

Funds: $55,000 is available to support up to two (2) awards

Information: The Request for Applications (RFA) was made available Friday, November 13, 2009. Access the RFA*.
